Est. 1882

Our church was originally formed in 1882 as the Gospel Temperance Union. After several years of holding a monthly meeting in different churches in South Shields, the members established a weekly evening service in 1928 in a church on the corner of Alice Street and Bertram Street. Our current building (which is a little further down the road) was opened in 1879 and several extensions and alterations have been built since then as the church has changed and grown. In 2000, its name was changed to Living Waters Church.

We meet weekly, every Sunday morning. Come for refreshments at 10am and enjoy a warm welcome. Our service begins at 10.30am. Running alongside the service is our Kids’ and Youth Ministry. Lighthouse Kids is for children of primary school age and our Youth can plug into a session if they are secondary school age. We also have a welcoming space upstairs equipped for babies and toddlers where parents can enjoy watching the service on screen while their children play.

In addition to our weekly Sunday services, we have programs and events for all ages including children and youth. We also have Connect Groups and various other events throughout the year.
