The Songs (I)

Pastor Beth & Emma (vocalists), Pastor Dave (🥁), June (🎹) and Rodrigo (🎸) opened this mornings service by leading us in these 3 songs:

Nothing is Impossible

Through You I can do anything
I can do all things
‘Cause it’s You who gives me strength
Nothing is impossible
Through You blind eyes are open
Strongholds are broken
I am living by faith
Nothing is impossible

I’m not gonna live by what I see
I’m not gonna live by what I feel

Deep down I know that You’re here with me
And I know that You can do anything

I believe I believe
I believe I believe in You

You are the One

Now has come salvation
Now has come Your strength
And the kingdom of my God
And the power of His Christ
Jesus holy One
Jesus holy One

Now has come Your mercy
Now has come Your peace
And the glory of Your presence
And the greatness of Your name
Jesus holy One
Jesus holy One

You are the One that I love my Lord
You are the One all of heaven adores
You are the One who is high over all the earth
Jesus my risen Saviour
Jesus my risen Saviour

Now has come forgiveness
Now has come Your grace
And the precious Holy Spirit
And the freedom that You gave
In Jesus holy One
Jesus holy One

No Longer Slaves

You unravel me with a melody
You surround me with a song
Of deliverance from my enemies
Till all my fears are gone

I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God

From my Mother’s womb
You have chosen me
Love has called my name
I’ve been born again into Your family
Your blood flows through my veins

You split the sea so I could walk right through it
My fears were drowned in perfect love
You rescued me so I could stand and sing
I am a child of God

I am surrounded
By the arms of the Father
I am surrounded
By songs of deliverance
We’ve been liberated
From our bondage
We’re the sons and the daughters
Let us sing our freedom

I am a child of God
I am a child of God
I am a child of God

The Word

Pastor Dave presented this morning’s Word. It included these scripture references:

Genesis 28:10-16 (NLT)

10Meanwhile, Jacob left Beersheba and travelled toward Haran.

11At sundown he arrived at a good place to set up camp and stopped there for the night. Jacob found a stone to rest his head against and lay down to sleep.

12As he slept, he dreamed of a stairway that reached from the earth up to heaven. And he saw the angels of God going up and down the stairway.

13At the top of the stairway stood the lord, and he said, “I am the lord, the God of your grandfather Abraham, and the God of your father, Isaac. The ground you are lying on belongs to you. I am giving it to you and your descendants.

14Your descendants will be as numerous as the dust of the earth! They will spread out in all directions—to the west and the east, to the north and the south. And all the families of the earth will be blessed through you and your descendants.

15What’s more, I am with you, and I will protect you wherever you go. One day I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you.”

16Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the lord is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it!”

Luke 9:28-35 (NLT)

28About eight days later Jesus took Peter, John, and James up on a mountain to pray.

29And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was transformed, and his clothes became dazzling white.

30Suddenly, two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared and began talking with Jesus.

31They were glorious to see. And they were speaking about his exodus from this world, which was about to be fulfilled in Jerusalem.

32Peter and the others had fallen asleep. When they woke up, they saw Jesus’ glory and the two men standing with him.

33As Moses and Elijah were starting to leave, Peter, not even knowing what he was saying, blurted out, “Master, it’s wonderful for us to be here! Let’s make three shelters as memorials—one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

34But even as he was saying this, a cloud overshadowed them, and terror gripped them as the cloud covered them.

35Then a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, my Chosen One. Listen to him.”

Psalm 27:4 (NIV)

4One thing I ask from the Lord,
this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
and to seek him in his temple.

Psalm 1:1-3 (NLT)

1Oh, the joys of those who do not
follow the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners,
or join in with mockers.

2But they delight in the law of the lord,
meditating on it day and night.

3They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.

Psalm 26:8 (NLT)

8I love your sanctuary, lord,
the place where your glorious presence dwells.

Psalm 23:1-6 (NLT)

1The lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.

2He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.

3He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to his name.

4Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.

5You prepare a feast for me
in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.
My cup overflows with blessings.

6Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the lord

John 4:21-24 (NLT)

21Jesus replied, “Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.

22You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews.

23But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.

24For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

Matthew 6:7-15 (NLT)

7“When you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again.

8Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!

9Pray like this:
Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.

10May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.

11Give us today the food we need,

12and forgive us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us.

13And don’t let us yield to temptation,
but rescue us from the evil one.

14“If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.

15But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.

The Songs (II)

To Be in your presence (This is my desire)

To be in Your presence
To sit at Your feet
Where Your love surrounds me
And makes me complete

This is my desire O Lord
This is my desire
This is my desire O Lord
This is my desire

To rest in Your presence
Not rushing away
To cherish each moment
Here I would stay

Peace bring it all to peace
The storms surrounding me
Let it break at Your name

Still call the sea to still
The rage in me to still
Every wave at Your name

Jesus Jesus You make the darkness tremble
Jesus Jesus You silence fear
Jesus Jesus You make the darkness tremble
Jesus Jesus

Breathe call these bones to live
Call these lungs to sing
Once again I will praise

Your name is a light that the shadows can’t deny
Your name cannot be overcome
Your name is alive forever lifted high
Your name cannot be overcome

Jesus Jesus You make the darkness tremble
Jesus Jesus You silence fear
Jesus Jesus You make the darkness tremble
Jesus Jesus
